Chanel celebrates The Collection's history with capsule collections

Chanel designers Karl Lagerfeld and Coco Chanel, who founded the brand in 1937, were hands-on with all aspects of the business. By now their ways of thinking have largely disappeared, but Chanel continues to show its loyalty by celebrating every important member of its crew with the release of “this year’s A/W ’19 cream collectibles” by the Chanel legacy team.

The special “perspectives” include the jewelry of two of Coco Chanel’s more famous friends, Jacqueline de Ribes and Edouard Louis, and artwork of artists from around the world including Michael Amick, William Kentridge, Craig Drake, Junya Watanabe, Leon Bakst, Tim Noble and Gabrielle Aplin. These are just a few of the 11 creatives that received a commemorative x3 collection box, worth $3,000 a pop, to help them celebrate their work in the year that they were in residence for the “in the saddle” collection.

Chanel has been on the #KnownAloud campaign since 2013, lending its resources to support grassroots fashion activities that support the broader artistry of the fashion industry. They are the pioneers of the #NotAChicNotGettingTrendy movement. Hopefully, their “philanthropic” gesture will inspire more of these grassroots initiatives.
